The James B. Hunt, Jr. Dormitory Building was opened in 1986 as the first residential building to be built explicitly for the purpose of housing NCSSM’s students, meaning (for one thing) that its rooms are much larger, designed to house two or three per room. (All of the other dorm facilities are repurposed singles or offices.) Unfortunately, it was apparently built a bit on the cheap and therefore has, among other features
, exposed cinder-block walls on its interior and consistent infrastructure problems.
